Architects Carlo Ratti Associati unveiled The Navigating Gym, a human powered boat, in Paris. The team collaborated with Technogym, the non-profit architecture group Terreform ONE and the urban regeneration institute URBEM, to develop and design a 20-meter long fitness vessel for 45 persons. With Technogym’s ARTIS machines human energy from pedaling and running can be captured and used to power the boat. The vessel floats on the Seine through the city for a unique experience and exploring the river as an integral part of the city’s mobility infrastructure. Combined with augmented-reality screens to inform sports enthusiasts about the generated energy and the environmental status of the river, the guests get a multi-sensory experience while cruising on the river and taking in the beautiful views.
