We are very proud to share the news that Doniece Sandoval, founder of Lava Mae, received the 2017 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award for her work in finding innovative solutions to critical issues in California. It all started with the idea of making showers mobile and providing homeless people in San Francisco with an opportunity to take care of themselves and improve their hygiene. We reached out to Doniece and her team of volunteers and experts to provide eco-friendly plumbing products. Together with the Lava Mae architect and designer our team fitted the right products into trailers that now accommodate three full bathrooms. The program of “radical hospitality” which includes a lot more than 42 showers and 15 minutes of privacy a day is now expanding to other cities in California. Doniece is producing a manual that her concept can be replicated anywhere in the world. Through this partnership we are able to participating in restoring dignity for the homeless and provide water and energy efficient products and installations to meet regulations. We are honored to be part of Doniece’s journey.
