Installing Caxton sinks and Veil toilets on the 78th floor of a building have a particular appeal. Especially when the building is the tallest building in Seoul, South Korea, and the sixth tallest building in the world. The 123-floor, 555-meter high Lotte World Tower near the Han River was inaugurated in April 2017 and serves as a mixed-use project. On floors 76 to 101, Signiel Seoul, a super luxury 6-star hotel, has found its home and presents incredible views over the city.
Luckily, one does not have to climb up the façade to get there.
If staying overnight at the Lotte World Tower is not on the program, maybe a visit to the second highest lounge bar in the world 123 Lounge (123rd floor) or the Seoul Sky Café on 122 floor is? Or a quick dip in the swimming pool on the 85th floor? It is worldwide the highest pool in a building.Or you’d rather just take a quick peek from the observation deck that occupies the last five floors of the tower?
At 500 meters high, the observation deck with a glass bottom invites for unforgettable 360 degrees views – and maybe a scare or two – it is the highest such platform in the world. The whole of Seoul seems to be a bustling construction site. Among the many new structures, a number of tall buildings are expected to be completed in 2017. These include Samsung Raemian Gangdong Palace Residential and Office Tower, Yongsan Prugio Summit Towers and the Accor Mercure Ambassador Hotel Yongsan.Although they are considered tall buildings, they are not on the list that includes buildings with more than 120 floors. From South Korea, only the Lotte World Tower is part of this exclusive group comprising Burj Khalifa in Dubai, UAE, Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China, and Abraj al Bait, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. However, the crazy building boom of tall buildings with more than 100 floors continues the world over. Soon (between 2018 and 2022) the Lotte World Tower will be one among many in the world.Although in Seoul itself, it is not expected that the tower will soon have a lot of competition as the topography of the city is such that the hill in the middle of the city sports the Namsan Tower. It is considered a landmark and can be seen from afar. Many developers and the Korean and US Air Forces have set height limits for buildings in order not to obstruct the view.
