Is it too late to halt the crazy climate change train?The creative community, creative visionaries, design thinkers, educators, architects, and product designers who gathered in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 22 and 23 November 2017 didn’t think so. The ‘What Design Can Do’ two-day conference keynote speakers such as Pete Hellicar, discussion groups, networking sessions focused on challenges in climate change and gender inequalities. They urged the audience to participate and collaborate in finding practical and inspirational solutions.An international jury selected the winners of the global competition ‘Climate Action Challenge’. They looked for design ideas to help vulnerable communities who are exposed to climate change. The ideas should be low-cost, low-tech, and provide field-based educational opportunities combining design, technology, and art. Look out for the winners.The challenge was supported by IKEA Foundation, Autodesk ASEAN Foundation, Social Enterprise NL and endorsed by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The best five projects will be implemented and will reveal the real power of design.
