The 2018 Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, showcased the latest and most innovative trends in consumer goods related to dining, living, and giving from 9 to 18 February 2018.The over 4,400 exhibitors from 89 countries around the world presented a world of interior design and let the visitors experienced three specific areas. For us, of course, ‘living’ was the most interesting and helpful.Interior design, furnishing, and decoration trends are always at the forefront of our design concepts. The innovative products, styles, and designs presented, set the standards in the industry in 2018. In the energy-saving building of Messe Frankfurt, it was only befitting to see lots of natural, warm colors and tones, greenery and plants, and base materials. Among all these healthy and blending colors the visitors also came across some real color splashes such as the application of the Pantone Color of the Year ultraviolet.
What would interiors be without the accessories? The section on ‘dining’ takes care of that, and displayed products, services, and concepts that make cooking and home management easier. One finds items in glass, porcelain, or small kitchen appliances to complement design styles and add to the day-to-day convenience. The ‘giving’ area covers gifts, personal accessories, jewelry. The diversity of ideas and new goods add another touch to any interior design style and help create a personalized touch in any space. It was noticeable that lots of playfulness and colors are entering this space again. With the Netherlands as the partner country at the trade fair, Dutch design with its minimalistic yet experimental style, curated by Robert Bronwasser’s and represented in the DO DUTCH exhibition, gave some breathing room to the overwhelming mass of information and facts. The exhibition served as a strong inspiration for future design concepts.
Among the number of awards were awarded during the trade fair was the German Design Awards. This annual award recognizes excellence in product and communication design. The winners in the category Excellent Product Design displayed their winning projects at Galleria Nord during the trade fair.
