At DIFFA’s 20th annual Dining by Design in March in New York City, the New York-based, global lifestyle brand Tzelan partnered with Steelite International and Materials Inc presenting the booth “Reflections”.
The design industry’s largest fundraiser to fight against HIV/AIDS originated as dinner and musical fundraising event and evolved into a five-day event showcasing uniquely designed tabletops by renowned designers and brands to raise funds and awareness.
The Tzelan’s installation “Reflections” celebrated the harmony of the Natural World Order balancing the five prevailing elements in Chinese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. In the center, the dining table inspired a gathering of family and friends to come together celebrating diversity, multiculturalism and life itself.
The booth combined a myriad of materials merging nature and human touches. Hand-stitched leather and hand-woven tablecloths and sophisticated tableware from Steelite International imitated movement of waves at sea inspired by artist Kia Pedersen‘s recent work.
Alison Chi, Tzelan’s Managing Director and daughter of designer Tony Chi said: “The heritage of hospitality is rooted in culture, religion, cuisine, and occasion, whether passed down or new. Rituals and traditions unite us, despite our perceived differences.”
