One of the region’s most anticipated interior design competitions took place on 21 November 2017 in Singapore. The sold-out Interior Design Confederation Singapore (IDCS)’s annual Design Excellence Awards gala dinner was held at the beautiful St. Regis hotel. The awards under the theme ‘The Sense of Place’ recognized practitioners and students in the area of interior design related to commercial, residential, public and exhibition. Taking into account that ‘A space is a room, but a place is a human experience and an emotional connection’, the jury selected the top projects from the many entries. The awards are symbols of outstanding work that elevate the standard of design and the quality of the industry.
This year the awards were even more inclusive than previously with new categories in Exhibition Design, Sustainable Design, Environmental Design, and the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) Project of the Year areas. The 180 entries from 14 countries were evaluated by a panel of five active design practitioners with a solid track record. They determined 54 IDEA winners in 28 categories and 36 Spatial Design Awards for students in nine categories. We are proud that LTW, our design firm of the Kohler Experience Center in Singapore, placed second after Nissan Crossing Experience Centre in Tokyo designed by Tim Kobe of Eight Inc. LTW and we took home a Silver Award in the Exhibition Design category.
