The 11th edition of the India Art Fair closed after the weekend on February 3, 2019. The all-inclusive art event at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds in New Delhi, India, attracted gallerists, collectors, artists, museum professionals, and philanthropists interested in modern and contemporary art.
Seventy percent of the floor space was dedicated to Indian exhibitors who, together with international participants, contributed greatly to the buzz that was felt around the 75 contemporary exhibits.
A few firsts made the Indian Art Fair 2019 even more attractive than in previous years. For the first time, the organizers worked with the graphic designer and street artist @thebigfatminimalist to design the façade of the four gallery halls. The design was inspired by the topography and the roadmaps of Delhi. The technique incorporated traditional patterns that were realized in a futuristic digital graphic style.
The performance art program that Tayeba Begum Lipi described as a ‘breath of fresh air’ was well-received in the fast-developing art scene. Visitors from India and South Asia as well as China, UK, USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates, enjoyed the artist talks and the launch of the Art Tactic’s 2019 South Asia Art Market Report.
The report presented at the India Art Fair stated that the market grew by 7.7% in South Asia and gallery sales have been up by over nine percent. The growing India Art Fair is expanding in popularity and size. The large-scale interactive installations, sculptures, video works, and immersive experiences drew out many visitors who have attended for the first time.
The next India Art Fair will take place from January 30 to February 2, 2020.
