In the series of Asia Property Awards by PropertyGuru, the fourth annual Indonesia Property Awards was another milestone. The biggest and most revered property industry award in the archipelago saw a record attendance on 20 September 2018. The Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place ballroom in Jakarta was about to burst out of its seams with 400 guests in attendance. The Indonesian property market is heading to a more active phase in the second half of 2018. The market players are more confident which was seen by the many Indonesia property awards submissions for the 33 awards that were given out in categories developers award, design award, development award, and special awards. The new chairman of the judging panel Doddy A. Tjahjadi, Managing Director of PTI Architects commented that developers paid ‘more attention to design and sustainability’ in recent projects. The market is catering to the rapidly expanding middle class and takes growing urbanization into account when considering new developments and projects. The changing lifestyle demands led the organizers to create new categories such as ‘Best Township Development’ and ‘Best Lifestyle Center Development’. The latter recognized best community malls or lifestyle facilities with less than 200,000 square-meter floor area. Due to the increased cooperation with Singapore, the industrial sector also received a boost and this influx of activity warranted another new category: Best Industry Development for projects that are completed between January 2017 and December 2021. All the submissions for the Indonesia property awards spoke of the talent that exists in the market. Some companies stood out of the crowd: Agung Sedayu Group that received the ‘Best Developer’ title for the second time in a row and took home the most awards during the evening. Triniti Land was crowned ‘Best Boutique Developer’ and shared second place in terms of the number of awards with Genesis Indojaya that received four awards in different categories. Finally, DR Property received three awards. At each event, Propertyguru awards the Real Estate Personality of the Year. In Indonesia, this title went to the philanthropist Hendro S. Gondokusumo who is the founder and president director and CEO of PT Intiland Development Tbk. His and his companies’ work was honored for the outstanding focus on mixed-use developments. As title and platinum sponsors, we didn’t miss the opportunity to have some of our top management in lieu as well. Angel Yang, president K&B APAC, and Adam Quek, general manager and commercial director K&B Southeast Asia, mingled with the guests and presented some of the awards during the ceremony. PropertyGuru loved the event that comprises condominium and residential development in Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, and Greater Indonesia and now much more. They and the industry expect to return in 2019 with an even stronger line-up and industry focus.
