KOHLER Bold Design Awards: KBDA India nominees announced

More than 1,200 entries were received for the second KOHLER Bold Design Awards India (KBDA India). The biennale event following the 2016 success is a celebration of best Indian design and design philosophy. As in the first edition, the interest for the awards and the number of entries is huge and the jury consisting of well-known architects and designers were hard at work to nominate the finalists and establish a shortlist.  KBDA India Picture10India’s top architects and firms submitted their work for the awards to compete in the categories ‘The Extraordinary’, ‘The Visionary’, and ‘Life Time Achievement’.   KBDA India 2 (1)The jury consisting of Abha Narain Lambah, Chitra Vishwanth, Fabio Novembre, Jimmy Lim, Kamal Malik, Pankaj Vir Gupta, Paola Navone, Shahrukh Mistry, and Sunita Kohli scrutinized each project by applying the strict criteria of ideas, aesthetics, details, practicality, and relevance. Only 27 projects made it on the shortlist. Each category is divided into subcategories with two to five projects that have been chosen for the final selection.  KBDA India 1In the ‘The Extraordinary’ category competitors challenge each other for the most cutting-edge and innovative project.

The nominees in the 2018 KBDA India compete for a chance to pick up the gold and steel Golden Pencil trophy that signifies a benchmark in architectural quality and an industry recognition. The winners will be announced and celebrated on 30 November 2018 at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai.
