At Kohler Co., our artistic roots run deep. In 1974, the world-renowned residency program Arts/Industry was introduced at Kohler’s head office to support aspiring artists in the US. After 40 years, more than 500 residents have participated this program.
Passing the artistic tradition to Asia, the equivalent of Arts/Industry debuted in China titled “Bold. Art.” in 2010. Following the success in China, the program was later introduced in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea during 2013-2014, where participating artists were invited to create art pieces from the same materials that are used to produce Kohler products. The first exhibition ran under the theme “Asian Contemporary Art: Rooted in the Past, Looking into the Future”.
This year, Kohler Co., was delighted to announce the Southeast Asian Tour of Bold. Art. where Bangkok hosted the first Kohler and the Arts Exhibition, an exciting art event in collaboration with six rising artists from six countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The first exhibition in Bangkok was held on June 5, 2015, at Gaysorn Shopping Center where the president and CEO of Kohler Co., David Kohler presided over the opening ceremony.
After the launch, the exhibition remained on view through 19 June. Audiences witnessed the unique artwork from talented Southeast Asian artists from the Bold. Art. program. A special showcase of exclusive items from the Artist Editions, an elegant and elaborately designed product line that was first introduced by Kohler Co. in 1985, was also displayed.
