Despite the chances of rain, over 170 guests came out to the KOHLER Design Forum Bangkok on 27 November 2017 at Gaysorn Urban Resort. The beautiful location and the well-known speakers drew a big crowd in the center of Bangkok. Kicking-off the event with cocktails served including the KOHLER chocolate brandy mix on the open-air terrace, an interesting product display, and of course lots of guests from the architecture and design industry, the KOHLER Design Forum Bangkok was off to a good start. The Monocle executive editor Josh Fehnert invited attendees to settle down in the glassed-in conference room and introduced the speakers. Larry Yuen, president Kohler K&B Group, gave a short overview of the history of the KOHLER Design Forums and our collaboration with various media partners. Later Sean Affleck of Make Architects, William Lim of CL3, and Ou Baholyodhin of Sansiri took the stage to share their views and thoughts on the latest developments in the built industry about technology, connectivity, and human-centric design. Mark Bickerstaffe, our director of new product development EMEA and APAC, gave an intense account on the perspectives of artificial intelligence and interlinked tools in the bathroom. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion led by Josh Fehnert where each of the speakers among other more serious questions gave their views of a useful and fun technology gadget that would facilitate their everyday lives. The product display animated guests to explore the new materials, marvel at the designs, and get a feel of contemporary, cutting-edge bathroom fixtures and appliances. Having a look though was not enough. At the lucky draw, three winners received products to take home and experience them in their own homes, and another few invited persons received some premium merchandise from our partner Manchester United.
Rounding up the event were drinks, finger food, and some good sound vibes on the patio with the twinkling lights of Bangkok as a background.
