All things connected is the theme of this year’s KOHLER Design Forums that kicks off on 16 August 2018 in Singapore. The KOHLER Experience Center transforms into a magnificent event space to welcome over 100 architects and designers from Singapore and regionally. The ‘All things connected’ discussion is led by James Chambers, Bureau Chief of Monocle.
He invites Dr. Gerhard Schmitt, professor of Information Architecture at the Singapore-ETH Center, Michael Wang, senior continent head at Marriott International and former speaker at the KOHLER Design Forum in Taiwan, Steven Shaw, executive principal at Aedas Interiors, and Mark Bickerstaffe, director of new product development Kohler K&B APAC and EMEA to the stage.
The renown speakers will share their insights and wisdom on shaping the future of technology and its integration into everyday life. They will present their views and insights based on their own experience in the design world and from different industry standpoints.
Professor Schmitt takes the audience on a journey into the development of responsive cities and how technology works hand in hand with user experiences and intuition in a public space. This introduction is followed by Steven Shaw who raises the listeners’ awareness of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) is already integrated into people’s lives. More specifically, Michael Wang looks at the hotel industry and business and technologies’, IA’s, and IoT’s applications to enhance the guests’ experiences. Finally, Mark Bickerstaffe shares a vision of not only a connected bathroom environment but one that is safer and healthier.
The KOHLER Design Forum Singapore concludes with a panel conversation to discuss the shaping and disruption technological advances cause in the business and design world and how companies, and people, adapt to the change.
The KOHLER Experience Center is an ideal location to hold the event and to look at advancements in technology in particular in the bathroom and kitchen space. After the Smart Home launch in China in June, the Verdera Voice lighted mirror, that was a hit at CES earlier this year, the DTV+ showering system, Numi intelligent toilet, and Sensate kitchen faucet are great examples of how the integration works.
