The temperate climate of the British Isles is certainly not keeping art lovers at home. Especially when they can visit the first and long-established art show of the season.The London Art Fair is a modern British and contemporary art fair celebrating 30 years in 2018 and geared to mid-market buyers and dealers.131 galleries from the UK and abroad show edgy works from leading artists from the early 20th century to present day from Britain and Europe. Some pieces are even under USD 10,000, but prices depending on artists and fame soar into the 100,000s.At the fair, visitors see museum quality British, European and global artists’ work.
In addition, ArtProjects and Photo50, bodies of work of 50 photographs by eight artists documenting historical change, hone in on the young and next generation of creators and artists. This section of the show gives the fair a new and dynamic spin.Along the same line of rejuvenating and adding new life to the fair, Kathleen Soriano of Art UK has been asked to organize an exhibition of the most diverse range of art titled ‘Art of the Nation’. Drawing from the digital online platform’s 200,000 online resources of paintings in UK museums, five artists made their selection. Sonia Boyce, Mat Collishaw, Haroon Mirza, Oscar Murillo, and Rose Wylie rose up to the tasks and chose a few fantastic pieces.The London Art Fair takes place at the Islington Business Design Centre in London, UK from 17 to 21 January 2018.
