On top of the miXc mixed-use complex towers the new Park Hyatt Hangzhou hotel. The 448,500 sq meters high-end shopping center that includes entertainment, food options, and two metro lines is located near the Qiantang River and West Lake in Hangzhou, China. Although not in the center of the city, it is quite easily accessible from the international airport.
The 223-room Park Hyatt hotel that opened late in 2016 with 49 floors is the tallest hotel in the city and also features the highest swimming pool and highest dining hotspot in Hangzhou. GOA Architects (LDI) designed this mixed-use property with a definite chicness and elegance that is reflected everywhere in the hotel and the materials.Famous interior designers Yabu Pushelberg who were speakers at the Design Shanghai Kohler Design Forum reinterpreted the Ming dynasty and Jiangnan style in a contemporary fashion at the inside. They envisioned a Chinese merchant’s mansion and used the modern design language of today. The result is the frequent use of grey-veined marble that reminds of traditional Chinese landscape paintings, wooden floors, floral motive carpets, and lacquered wooden screens. The impressive split-level black granite swimming pool interspersed with marble is worth a visit, but while guests are there, they should also have a look at the too-cool-to-be real Forty8 whiskey bar. The menu sports 48 different whiskeys by the glass.
The rooms are equally beautiful as the pool and the gym with strong design ideas lightly applied. The large room sizes (50sqm and up) invite to stay in, do some work from the well-equipped workstation with adapter plugs for every imaginable device and the complimentary fruit bowl as well as an unobstructed view of the city below.Bathrooms pick up the theme of veined marble from the common areas, giving the room a cool and sophisticated look. The freestanding bathtub and rain showers speak of latest technology and style, as do the KALLISTA faucets and the pampering Acca Kappa bath products.
