This year’s Women’s Pecha Kucha took place in Bangalore, the green garden city in India. Based on last year’s inaugural edition and the success the event had, our team in India was working very hard to make the 2019 edition of Women’s Pecha Kucha on March 8, 2019, even bigger and more interesting.
Under the theme the ‘Goddess is in the details’ seven prominent women from the design, architecture, and arts world agreed to take on the challenge of sharing their thoughts and insights on bold stories in 20 slides and 20 seconds each.
In India, the Pecha Kucha tradition at Kohler Company is long and exciting. Just in November 2018, the sixth anniversary of the event was celebrated with international guests speaking alongside well-known Indian architects.
The Women’s Pecha Kucha at the beginning of March was also the occasion to celebrate International Women’s Day and for this not only the presenters were all female but also the camera crew, the event organizers, and the audience.
The seven Pecha Kucha presentations were kicked-off by Laura Kohler, senior vice president Human Resources, Stewardship and Sustainability at Kohler Company. She was joined by actress and classical Bharatanatyam dancer Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonali Bhagwati, president at DPA, Varuna Arvind, principal designer and co-owner Arvind Varuna Associates, Supraja Rao, founder and principal designer of Design House, Shabnam Gupta, principal architect at The Orange Lane, and Chitra Vishwanath, founder, principal architect, and managing director of BIOME Environment Solutions Private Limited.
The Le Meridien Bangalore set a beautiful stage for these brave, inspiring ladies who boldly told their stories of pioneering, leadership, and awe-inspiring experiences. If you would like to see them speak, check out the Facebook Kohler India live feed.
The bold stories of women ‘making it’ in this world go beyond the wall of the Le Meridien ballroom. In a unique collaboration with Humans of Bombay, Kohler Company gave women out there a voice and a platform to share their courageous stories on the interwebs.
The hardship and the joy of overcoming obstacles and hurdles are beautifully captured in the women’s stories told on Instagram and the website.
